We Indians are different.

Many years ago when I was child a television serial 'Malgudi Days' was broadcasted on Doordarshan. It was one of my all time favorite serial. The central theme of this serial was ambiguous Indians. It is really tough to understand the Indians. Event happened on July23 again proved that we Indians are very ambiguous.

When I returned back to my home as usual day I started my television. Usually journey of my remote control starts with Zee TV and ends at MTV. My parents were not at home they returned home at 6:00 PM and as they entered they ordered me to switch over to Aaj Tak. I thought that one more terrorist attack has happened but story was different all channels were broadcasting the live telecast of pulling out mission of a 5 year old boy Prince. He was in a 57 feet deep hole from last two days. I did not take too much time to understand the complete situation. I was really amazed that how whole nation (including Prime Minister) was doing prayer for a child.

Up to that time my mother had come in the hall normally this time my mother is found in kitchen. Now it had been cleared that this time changing the channel might be perilous for me I just handed over remote to my father. My father did not waste any time to grab the remote he grabbed as captain of Italy soccer team grabbed World Cup. By their discussion I got to know that they had been watching this incident from afternoon. As television reporter announced that Prince can be pulled out any time the anxiety on face of my mother was augmented she was taking it as I had fallen in a deep hole.

Suddenly Chief Minister was shown running at the television screen towards the well where operation was going on. Presence of MP Naveen Jindal was telling that how seriously administration was taking this issue.
Suddenly my father changed the channel he switched over from Aaj Tak to Star news my mother did not speak any thing but by her expressions any body can assume that she did not like this action. Probably my father wanted to search clearest broadcast thats why he did not stop at Star news and he reached NDTV and then India TV. Now my mother requested him to not to change channel again and again. There was a Belan in the hand of my mother. My father knows that this time it may be risky so he just put down the remote.
Belan in the hand of Indian woman is considered most dangerous weapon even lord Krishna can not dare to face the woman if she has Belan in the hand. By their discussion I knew that my cousin brother did not take sleep in whole last night he was continuously watching this mission on his TV set.

As time of arrival of Prince was coming closer the emotional anxiety of my mother was increasing I left the room and went in other room to do some computer work but as I started my computer my parents shouted come here Tarun, Prince is coming, come here. This is other matter that he was not taken out in the next more half an hour.

Now it was fixed that I had to stay there. I would also like to praise the reporter of Aaj Tak who was continuously speaking. Her words were doing miraculous effect on my mother.

Simultaneously my father was also doing live commentary on this mission. But my mother was not taking interest, to differentiate himself he started to give lecture on mahamriyunjay mantra (he is the great devotee of lord Shiva) he wanted to tell the scientific meaning of mahamriyunjay mantra but my mother stopped him. My father started another work he started to phone my relatives to talk on this matter.
Golden moment was coming near as people were shown to congratulate each other my parents realized that Price was being pulled out. As the army officer in black uniform came out with prince from well the emotions of my mother broke the wall of patience. Tears from her eyes rolled down. My father was considering himself as a major of mission who played an important role in this mission. A shine of triumph came on his eyes. I was watching all this as a dumb viewer. Suddenly ring of phone rang. Everybody was giving congratulations to each other. Celebrations in Kolkata, Mumbai and Kashi were proving that my parents were not alone in this celebration.

So finally Prince came out he has become the national hero.
I was really astonished after watching this entire event. It was out from my thinking. I have very narrow thinking. It normally wonders between socialism and capitalism.
My capitalist mind started to analyze the whole incident. It was just a media drama. They wanted to increase their TRP and people wanted to appear on TV. That was the whole story behind it but millions of people who were praying for Prince. What was their purpose behind it? No it was not a face of capitalist India; even television channels broadcasted it uninterrupted without showing any Ad.

My socialist mind said that this is the face of socialist India where the life of a poor small child is as important as life of Prime Minister. But then why everyday thousands of innocent people get killed in our country? Why many people die everyday from hunger and poverty? I read news recently that an innocent child was dead in hospital due to absence of doctors. Doctors were busy in strike. Can we say that a life is so important in India?

Behaviour of Indians is very difficult to understand. But we Indians are really different.
