The Omega Juicer: A Superfood Fountain?

Author: Rika Susan

An Omega Juicer 8005 Nutrition Center is sure to become your family's health-hub within a short space of time. What a great machine this is!

Like other single-gear, masticating juice extractors, it is nutrient-preserving and extremely versatile. Whether you are a wheat-grass, fruit, or vegetable fan, you will use the Omega Juicer with confidence and ease.

It manages all the health-building green stuff, apples, berries, grapes, carrots, celery, cucumber, broccoli and much more with superb results: extra dry pulp and substantial quantities of juice rich in color and flavor.

If the pulp of softer produce presents a problem at times, a simple solution is to use harder textured produce such as carrots to push it through the juicer.

Your assurance that all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes are retained in the juice, and that there will be very little foam, lies in the single-gear engineering, and the resultant low rotation speed of 80 rpm's. This is also music to your ears, as it means that the juicer operates at a low noise level. Minimal oxidation also contributes to the excellent juice quality.

The Omega Juicer 8005 has been designed as a continuous juicer with automatic pulp ejection. The built in 'reverse' cleverly prevents clogging, which is definitely a huge plus. The juicer includes two separate screens for use with soft and firm produce.

The juicer is assembled with ease and is simple to operate. The different components fit well together. The Omega is a good choice if your arm strength is limited for any reason, as the juicer isn't too heavy (about 18 pounds) or bulky.

For most people, one of the most important considerations is how time-consuming the cleaning process is. With the easy-to-maintain chrome-finished Omega Juicer 8005, it involves little more than a quick rinse. A brush is included to assist with cleaning the screen.

If you choose the Omega 8003 model, with the same specifications, there may eventually be a bit of a battle with stains, as it has a white housing.

It is unfortunate that the chute isn't somewhat larger - some of the raw stuff will have to be cut into smaller pieces.

Of course you are not limited to juicing with the Omega Juicer. The accessories turn your machine into a producer of baby food, fruit sauces, nut butters, frozen desserts and pasta. Done with these, you can always chop or mince or grind to your heart's content.

The Omega has a powerful 1/3 HP motor and is both UL and CUL approved. And don't worry about expecting too much of your new health buddy. The manufacturer trusts the Omega enough to add a 10 year limited warranty to the mix.

If you prefer a centrifugal juicer, consider the Omega Juicer Model 4000, featuring continuous juicing with automatic pulp ejection. This stylish juicer in white and stainless steel, will compliment any kitchen.

The 1/3 HP motor runs at 5200 rpm's and is powerful enough for daily use. The blade and bowl are stainless steel. The feed chute is generous enough to accommodate fairly substantial pieces of produce. The design of this juicer is distinctly anti-clogging.

It is effective for juicing a wide variety of produce, such as carrots, beetroot, apples, cucumber, cabbage, tomatoes, peaches, pineapples, and grapes. Tough stringy veggies like celery are juiced with ease. It also accommodates greens, such as spinach and kale. Peeled citrus can also be juiced.

The softer fruits, such as strawberries, are often quite a challenge for juicers. Pulp ejection can be improved by juicing harder textured veggies, with softer fruits. Go slowly for the best result.

The Omega Juicer 4000 is easy to clean, and most components are dishwasher safe. You don't need too much strength to maneuvre the latch arms that allow you to easily assemble or disassemble your juicer.

There is a 15 year warranty on the Omega, with a 1 year warranty on the blade.

For specialized citrus juicing, choose the Omega Model 5000 Professional Citrus Juicer. Running at 250 rpm's for maximum torque, it juices the vital vitamin C-range without complaint!

It has the familiar, attractive white plastic and stainless steel finish of the Omega range. The juicer is activated by exerting pressure on the cone. Freshly made citrus juice needs to have a slightly pulpy texture. Omega knows just how to achieve this effect. The pulp receptacle is easy to remove and clean.

You can be sure of one thing: whichever Omega Juicer you take a fancy to, will not gather dust in a cupboard. It will be used daily.
