Have you ever gone to a family reunion and wish the day wouldn't end. You get together with all your family once a year and catch up on all the things that has happened in the past year or so. When I was growing up our reunions was held at a park. We always had a big pavilion for food and shade and plenty of room to set up games. Everyone pitches in and brings their favorite foods. You have every from potato salad to ham and end up with a ton of desserts. That is one day you can eat and eat and not worry about all the calories you are taking in. Then you got the kids running around playing. Out in the field there is a baseball game going on. Then there is a badminton game going on and don't forget the volleyball game. It seems those are the favorite games at a reunion. The one time of the year when all the kids and grown-ups get together and really have a lot of fun playing games, and the rules fly out the window, we make them up as we go. Then you got grandma and grandpa sitting there watching. They are having just as much fun just sitting there watching what is going on around them. You also have the brag time. Everyone seems to grab their favorite pictures to show off. You may not know who they are talking about but you have the picture to relate to. Family reunions is one day set aside each year where all the families get together and catch up and to spend the day together. You have aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers, cousins, etc. That is one day to give thanks that you have family and you can visit with them. It seems that now a days, families are too busy doing their thing, that the reunions have faded into the past. No more getting together on a hot summer day, getting sun burnt, eating until you are stuffed and tired from running around playing games. |
