Mesa's Hawaiian Venture

The Mesa Air Group's new Hawaiian operation, Go Hawaii, is set to start flying during the second quarter of 2006, despite attempts by rival Hawaiian Airlines to keep it sidelined for at least two more years.

Alleging that the upstart operator had illegally accessed confidential information about their company, Hawaiian Airlines officials are attempting to block Mesa from starting business. Currently, Mesa is negotiating with HNL airport officials for space in its commuter terminal. Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines utilize the airport's interisland terminal.

When Moving Is On Your Shoulders

If a new job requires you to make a move away from your current residence, then hopefully your new company is footing the bill and making all the arrangements for you. Increasingly, however, some companies are putting the responsibility for making ga move squarely on the shoulders of new employees opting instead to give a lump sum payment to cover moving costs.

Should the responsibility to a make a move fall into your lap, be careful who you select to move your belongings. Unfortunately, interstate moving nightmares are a common problem and can include additional charges being assessed for the move or movers taking weeks to get your stuff to your new home when it should have only taken a few days.

So, what can you do? Visit MovingScam.com for help. The site contains instructions for finding reputable movers, a blacklist of movers to avoid, and message boards.

Moving is a hassle all of its own. Even if your new company is taking care of all the arrangements, make certain that the company who will be doing your move is reputable. If not, notify your new employer.

El Al's Security Edge

El Al Israel Airlines, long known for providing the ultimate in security for its passengers, is raising the security bar even further. On each of its 29 jetliners, El Al has installed anti-missle technology to combat Al Qaeda terrorists bent on shooting down its planes. In 2002, Islamic terrorists attempted to shoot down an Israeli charter flight in Kenya with a shoulder launched missile. The attempt failed, but the incident set in motion El Al's desire to ratchet up its security.
