A Neo-Nazi Hate Group Uses Hurricane Katrina Disaster To Cash In

Author: Mike Makler

The lows some people will sink too in order to cash in on the pain and suffering of the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Victims. Frank Weltner registered 10 Web Sites with names like donate-katrina.com, katrinafamilies.com, and neworleanscharities.com soliciting donations for Hurricane Katrina Disaster Victims.

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has filed a law suit against Frank Weltner. In his lawsuit, Nixon said that none of the Web sites were registered as charitable organizations, were not properly registered as tax exempt entities, and that Weltner failed to disclose that donations were not tax-deductible. According to Jay Nixon Frank Weltner has been associated with the National Alliance listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as one of the nation's largest and most active neo-Nazi hate groups. (Much of the above information appears on the State of MO Web page at ago.state.mo.us/newsreleases/2005/091605.htm)

Don't let people like Frank Weltner keep you from giving, the Hurricane Katrina Victims really do need your help and support. Before you donate to a charity you need to make sure it is a Non Profit Organization. The Charity watch group (Charitynavigator.org) allows you to search for Charities by name or keywords. CNN.Com Lists over 80 well known Charities that are helping the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Effort (cnn.com/SPECIALS/2005/katrina/help.center/)
