Blackouts and Soaring Heat Left People Reeling for Cover

Author: Kevin Carter

Hundreds of thousands of people in America are facing the hottest days of their lives. The situation is worsened by severe electricity outages resulting in prolonged Blackouts.

The situation is severe in California where mercury has soared to unprecedented 50 degree Celsius or 122 Fahrenheit. The severe heat has taken its toll; last reported eight people have been killed due to it.

Across the affected regions, health officials warned people to stay out of the sun and to drink plenty of water.

Blackouts

More than 100,000 people in California alone are facing severe power cuts and authorities are predicting it to be a prolonged one than first expected.

Even the system of myplace.com went out on Monday due to severe heat, signaling what next to come for most of the technology companies based in the area.

The situation is not all that great in other parts of United States, 16000 people are still living in dark in Queens for the second week running. Lately authorities have been able to restore electricity for its 22000 customers but there are still many people facing severe blackouts in North West Queens, New York.

Metrological department has predicted more days of severe heat to come, prompting fears of more days in dark without electricity.
