In the movie Storm Chasers we watched some of the techniques used by meteorologists who study the weather as they set up traceable devices which the Tornado would pick up so they could study the pressure and speed of the inside of the cyclone. Today storm chaser and meteorologists use lasers, sound waves, infrared and all sorts of high-tech methods to study storms. All of this data is coming in very handy to understand vortex flows for airfoils on aircraft, sails and wind generators and believe it or not to study Dust Devils on the Martian Surface as well. These weather flows may help us find clues to defeat Tornadoes and get them to collapse thus save lives.

Right now the trend is to learn more to help us predict where they will form by using satellite imagery, laser light and ground terrain to determine the precise place at which they will form based on the collected data in real-time, then intercede at precisely that time to prevent there creation. Additionally knowing where they will form and win may give us the chance to make advanced warning systems in virtual grids and use reverse 911 telemarketing to call residents within its path to warn them and save their lives. Tornado Research and the use of super computers to predict wind, speeds and time Tornadoes will continue to receive more funding and more serious research scientists in 2006. It may very well be the year we figure it all out, but regardless that day is approaching very fast now. Think on this.
