Creativity & Wisdom: Where Does It Come From?

Author: Cynthia VanLandingham

The Spirit of Creativity is often portrayed as child-like wonder and insatiable curiosity. In the Wonder Guide I define this spirit of learning and creativity as a process motivated by passion and purpose, and grounded in living goals.

Living goals are valuable and necessary because they generate energy and inspiration and guide us toward a positive future. They also provide protection and boundaries because they show us how we and others matter, and how we can make a difference. In addition, they give us authority to break-through artificial barriers of the mind that may be holding us back from reaching our full creative potential.

Children of Creativity and Wisdom are Everywhere

Please take my hand and allow me to be your guide on this exciting journey to reclaim the spirit of wonder and curiosity you remember from your childhood, and find the wisdom you'll need to go along with it. Why is the Wonder Guide Journey important? Because everyone has a purpose that is only theirs to fulfill, and we need all of our creative energy and insight to bring this purpose to life. Here is a legendary story about a Mathematician that shows what insight is and where it comes from.

Folklore tells us that Around 200 B.C. a Greek mathematician named Archimedes sat down in a tub of water to take his bath and watched the water flowing out around him. He received a flash of insight as he perceived the Theory of Displacement. Legend says Archimedes responded to his discovery with childlike glee, exclaiming, Eureka! which in Greek means Ive found it! Archimedes mathematical epiphany resulted in a valuable tool for calculating the finite volume of objects. But insight is an ongoing, creative process that is anything but finite!

To receive your insight you'll need to be grounded in the Spirit of Creativity so that ideas are able to flow over assumptions and artificial walls in the mind as we make fresh observations and find the surprises that were always there, waiting to be noticed. Archimedes Epiphany was a part of this creative process that precedes moments of discovery. It is an infinite Journey of Wonder for everyone!
